Rockin Around The Christmas Tree....

I must have been a Very good girl because I woke up to this.....

Santa left me alot of things. I got some cool Pittsburgh and UVA stuff and then stuff for school-flashcards. I got 500 to be exact. It will be interesting to see how long it takes me to go through them. It seems like I buy a pack of 100 every 2 weeks. I also got CD's,candy, a few books and a gift cards to Target, I-Tunes and Carini's(my favorite place to eat).

It's not all about what gifts I got from who. I'm spending the rest of the day with family and friends. I hope you have a safe and Merry Christmas and that the weather is cooperating wherever you are. I have family in Oklahoma and I got an email last night and so far they had gotten 10 inches of snow with 60 mph winds....yikes.

Oh and I'm also going to eat some good food and will probably be stuffed by time I get home tonight.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!!!!

Tis The Season......

Merry Christmas To All.........

Tonight I spent the night with Mom, Dad, Grandma Re and Nordie. We had a great dinner of lasagna and salad and we also exchanged gifts. We all had a great night.

Today I had a manicure/pedicure and finished up some last minute shopping. I then came home and finished decorating my sugar cookies for my Aunts/Uncles. I always make cookies to go with their gifts.

I love spending this time of year with family and friends. I also love looking at the decorations and spending timeless moments with my loved ones. It's not about gifts or money but just sitting around and visiting with people. For instance, right now I'm sitting in the chair posting this, Dad is on the sofa on his laptop and Mom is on the other sofa and we are talking about Christmas decorations/sales and holiday celebrations.
And To All A Good Night.........

ACC RIVALRY

TODAY IS THE BIGGEST RIVALRY IN ACC FOOTBALL!!!!!!!

VS

The game should be interesting. I'm sure we will probably get stomped on but for some reason I'm feeling optimistic that we may just beat the Hokies:)

It will be a good game and hopefully will be the last game for this man.......

yep...that's Al Groh the head coach. He has been under criticism
this year. This has been his worst year with THE UNIVERSITY. I'm not sure what is going on but there is talk of sending him packing this week. Today is the last home game and no we aren't going to a bowl game. We don't deserve it.

I'm doing this post in blue/orange because that is UVA's colors. I'm ready with my shirt, sweatshirt and charm bracelet sporting my team colors. That brings me to traditions...we are known for tailgaiting and having a good Ole' time. My family has gone to games since Dad was a student at UVA. When we score a touchdown we all stand up and wrap our arm around our neighbor, sway and sing the GOOD OLE' SONG. Here it is:

THAT GOOD OLE SONG OF WAHOO-WA

WE'LL SING IT O'ER AND O'ER

IT CHEERS OUR HEARTS AND WARMS THE BLOOD

TO HEAR THEM SHOUT AND ROAR
WE COME FROM OLD VIRGINIA WHERE ALL IS BRIGHT AND GAY

LETS ALL JOIN HANDS AND GIVE A YELL FOR DEAR OLD UVA
WAHOOWA WAHOOWA
UNI-V VIR-GIN-I-A
HOO-RAH-RAY, HOO-RAH-RAY
RAY!RAY!U-V-A!

Giving Thanks

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Today is a day we give thanks for everything. I am so grateful/thankful for everything in my life. That includes school, my health, family and friends, and my freedom. I hope everyone has a great day with lots of good food and friendship. I hope where ever you are it is pleasant and you get there safely.

I will be spending the day in CC at my aunt and uncles house. We are going to have a lot of good food and will watch football. I'm sure we will put up a few Christmas decorations as well.

Today is all about spending time with family and friends but most importantly I like to take today and reflect on the things that have happened since last year at this time. I also remind myself of the simple things that can easily be taken away from us.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the servicemen and women and their families. I can't imagine what they must be going through. I know several guys who are deployed. We love you guys and hopefully you will be home soon. Stay safe and you are in our prayers.

Bag Lady

I have been very busy this term. I'm taking NUR 102, Pharmacology I and I have a skills lab. I've mastered inserting a nasogastric tube, sterile dressing changes, catheters on males and females and a bunch of other stuff. This is what my books consist of this term:

so because of that I look like a bag lady most days. I have to pack 2 book bags because everything won't fit in one bag plus that is too much strain on my back. I pack a bag for my morning classes and one for my afternoon classes. I still love school but can't wait for it to be over so I can start working as a Nurse. I can't believe I've been in school for 17 weeks.

I love to read, so in my spare time-which isn't much, I'm reading this:

I've heard from so many that it's such a great book. I don't usually jump on the bandwagon and read "cult favorites" or what is popular in the rest of the country. So far it's a good book and an easy read. Hopefully I'll finish it soon after Thanksgiving....it's 400+ pages. I usually try to read a little something when I go to bed to just relax my brain/body. Sometimes I can read a chapter and some nights I'm lucky if I get 2 pages in.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week.I'm excited but am wondering where the year has gone...I feel like I fell asleep for a few months and missed the last half of the summer. With the end of the year approaching that means......MY BIRTHDAY IS IN 29 DAYS:)

Has It Been That Long?????

I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted something. I have been super busy with school. I passed my first 3 classes!!!!! It's hard to believe I've been in school for 8 weeks. I still love it and am learning a lot of stuff. I always knew our bodies were fascinating, but who knew it was so interesting how everything works and it's a wonder more things don't go wrong. The least little thing could throw a whole system out of whack. Especially the Endocrine System. Did you know your Anterior Pituitary Gland secretes 7 different hormones. They all do different things and target different tissues, and the Posterior Pituitary has 2 hormones.

In the past month I took my final exams and then had the pow-wow. While I was working at the pow-wow I celebrated that weekend. I found out on that Friday my final grades for the term. I knew I was doing okay, but since it's such a short amount of time and it leaves little room for error. I got to hang out and catch up with family and friends. Despite the crazy weather, everyone had a great time.

This past weekend was the Richmond Folk Festival. It's our take on the National Folk Festival. The National Folk Festival was here a few years ago, and the Intertribal Dance Group was invited to do a performance. This year they were asked to do another performance for the Richmond festival. It was a beautiful day. Here are some pics:

It's a yucky weekend so I'm going to catch up on my magazine reading and then finish my project for Nursing 101.
